And when the father asks, “Which is bigger?” the son points to the yellow duck. The white duck is not physically smaller than the yellow duck. And selecting the white duck when asked “Which is smaller?” has not been reinforced before. The white duck being “smaller” than the yellow duck is a derived and arbitrary relation. But how did the boy know to derive this relation?
