Relational Frame Theory represents a very different approach to understanding language and cognition. It does not explain language by treating ideas, information, meaning, and messages as “things” that people process and store in their brains or minds. RFT is a theory about how humans acquire language through interactions with their environment. Its purpose is to provide a practical and useful analysis of language and cognition, not just an abstract explanation. It is based on a scientific and pragmatic analysis of human learning.
