Thematic control describes a situation in which a controlling variable evokes a response but there is NO point-to-point correspondence between the controlling variable and the response. When determining thematic control, it again does not matter whether or not there is formal similarity or what the formal or dynamic characteristics of either the controlling variable or stimulus are.
