2.2 Uses of Language
The primary reason we use language so much is that it is extremely useful. It allows us to communicate with those far away, predict and plan for the future, solve complex problems, develop rules and laws to regulate the behavior of ourselves and others, and learn from people and cultures that no longer exist. In fact, without language, many of the cornerstones of human civilization would not be possible.
