PBIS is an evidence-based approach focused on identifying, teaching, reinforcing, and correcting behavior expectations. It escalates support intensity based on the severity of problem behaviors, integrating functional assessment, behavior support plans, skill development, environmental adjustments, and more. This presentation from the 2015 Michigan Autism Conference outlines PBIS principles and demonstrates its application to enhance success for students with autism.

Description
Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based set of practices that is currently implemented in over 20,000 schools across the nation. Key features of PBIS include identifying behavior expectations, teaching the expectations, reinforcing engagement in the behavior expectations and correcting behavior errors. The intensity of supports increases as the magnitude of problem behavior increases. More intensive supports are based on functional assessment linked to behavior support plan that includes skill development and engineering the environment for success along with ongoing progress monitoring and program adjusted as needed. This presentation describes the key principals of Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) and how this PBIS framework can be applied to the general education classroom setting to promote success for students with autism.

I have really enjoyed the topics and presentation from this organization. They have all been interesting and informative which makes earning the CEU’s so much easier. It goes by really quickly and the content was right up my alley in terms of interest and expertise. Definitely recommend if anyone is looking for a quick and interesting topic and a way to earn CEU credits.
This information is incredibly applicable to school-side and classroom settings. The audience does not need to be well-versed in ABA principles to be able to understand the concepts and apply these strategies, yet they are research-based and incredibly effective when applied with efficacy.
As a public school-based BCBA, I am always looking for more information on this topic. I enjoyed this presentation and found the information presented to be very useful and practical.
Very informative!
As a BCBA in a public school, it was really nice to find CEUs that were school-based rather than clinic-based. I liked the video format rather than reading journal articles.
