Now that you’ve gotten a lot of practice identifying the slope of one phase, let’s compare the slopes of two phases. Remember that a change in the level of a behavior—from baseline to treatment—might suggest that the intervention that we implemented caused that change. The same is true for slope. Imagine that you want to try to increase the number of positive interactions one of your students has with her peers during lunchtime. Across the baseline phase, the number of positive interactions she has per day is decreasing. Here is the slope.
