Immediate Feedback: A Misconception of a Recommended Practice

Feedback is widely used to enhance performance, but its definition lacks clarity in the literature, leading to misconceptions such as immediate feedback being more effective than delayed feedback and feedback being a consequence of behavior. This presentation from the 2021 Michigan Autism Conference aims to address these misconceptions by discussing feedback’s function as an antecedent to behavior and proposing a clearer definition in line with applied behavior analysis principles.
