Assessment and Treatment of Problem Behaviors within an Outpatient Clinic
Kristen Kalymon
BCBA ethical codes require functional assessments before treatment implementation, yet practitioners face barriers for conducting experimental functional analyses. Descriptive methods like Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence (ABC) assessments offer practical alternatives. Additionally, decision-making algorithms help practitioners select appropriate treatments by considering client goals, needs, and environmental limitations. This presentation from the 2021 Michigan Autism Conference discusses the clinical use of descriptive assessments and decision-making algorithms in outpatient settings.
