2.11 When Do BCBAs Need Research?
Research helps BCBAs with many professional activities. There are many reasons professional behavior analysts need research1:
- They have a general interest in a specific intervention or specific practice.
- They want to find research they recently heard about.
- They use research in the supervision of BCBA or BCaBA trainees.
- They need research when a behavior change program is not working.
- They use research for staff training.
- They use research to inform their teaching activities.
- They use research when presented with new or unfamiliar case characteristics.
- They need research when presented with new or unfamiliar target behaviors.
- They need research when developing manuscripts.
- They read research before conducting new research.
- They have a general interest in research on a specific target behavior.
