1.6 Why read research?

There are a few reasons behavior analysts should read the research, including:

  1. Behavior analysis is an evidence-based/evidence-informed practice.
  2. According to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts1, behavior analysts engage in professional development activities including reading relevant literature.
  3. According to the Association for Behavior Analysis International’s Statement on the Right to Effective Treatment2, behavior analysts are obligated to use only those procedures demonstrated by research to be effective.
