1.6 Why read research?
There are a few reasons behavior analysts should read the research, including:
- Behavior analysis is an evidence-based/evidence-informed practice.
- According to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts1, behavior analysts engage in professional development activities including reading relevant literature.
- According to the Association for Behavior Analysis International’s Statement on the Right to Effective Treatment2, behavior analysts are obligated to use only those procedures demonstrated by research to be effective.
